What's something you wish you'd learned sooner?

So it’s taken me pretty much the majority of my career to discover that being a generalist, being a Jack of all trades, is actually its own speciality. And I really, really wish somebody had told me that's when I started out.

My wife and I joke about the “Hobby of the Week” principle. We both have this tendency that we'll do something and we'll get really into it. And then maybe a month later it's like, well, “that's enough of that” and onto the next thing.

What book or concept changed the way you think about your life?

I learned from my old boss and mentor Matt Bickerton many, many, many years ago which was “always pay for good advice”. Now, ironically, Matt told me that for free because he was my boss and mentor. So. You know, he was breaking his own rule.
